The Book
In the 1990s, the Bronx was one of the deadliest places in America, run by drug crews who settled territory with gunfire. This is the story of those years, told by the federal prosecutor who reopened the cold cases, turned the cooperators, and put the people responsible away, sometimes twenty years after the bodies dropped.
It is true crime with the courtroom doors open: the deals, the informants, the evidence pulled from the bottom of the Bronx River, and the real machinery of how these cases were won.
About the Author
Laurie Korenbaum spent decades as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, where she supervised the Violent Crime Unit and tried some of the era's most complex homicide and drug-conspiracy cases. She writes true crime the way she lived it, from the inside.
